The AN/FPS-5 was a long-range search Radar used by the United States Air Force Air Defense Command. It was produced in the early 1950s by Hazeltine, and deployment was limited.

The AN/FPS-5 is a Height Finder Radar that was installed at AC&W sites in the mid-1950s. The antenna was fixed and the feed horn moved.

AN/FPS-5 radar was an old-fashioned height-finding radar coupled with an AN/FPS-3 search radar. Japanese J/FPS-5 radar is a modern 3-dimensional AESA (Active Electronical Scanned Array) radar. Though both have resembling designation, there is no relationships.
