The 9th Filmfare Awards were held in May 20, 1962 at Bombay, honoring the best films in Hindi Cinema in 1961.[1]
Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai becomes biggest winner where it also received Best Film of 1961 and Best Actor, both for Raj Kapoor.[2] Vyjayanthimala won her third Filmfare and second Best Actress trophy for Gunga Jumna. While B.R. Chopra won his Best Director Award for Kanoon. Gunga Jumna and Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai has the highest nomination with seven nominations for each film,[3] however the latter is a 1960 release which was not considered for the 8th Filmfare Awards.
