6WIND is a privately held software company that makes packet processing software that delivers 10x the network performance for physical and virtual Linux networks applications. 6WIND is headquartered in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, a suburb of Paris, France, with a U.S. subsidiary, sales and support offices in Japan and South Korea, and an R&D center in China.
History
6WIND, founded in 2000, was created as a spin-out from Thales Group (previously Thomson-CSF), a provider of electronics products for the aerospace, defense and security markets. It has been venture-funded.[1]
Operations
Partners include Red Hat, VMware and Wind River.[2] Equipment vendors that provide boards and systems utilizing 6WIND software include Emerson Network Power,[3]
Products
In early 2012, 6WIND introduced 6WINDGate Mobile Edition and 6WINDGate Cloud Edition, for the 4G mobile infrastructure and cloud computing markets.[4]
