Trivia

Both teams had finished third in league play. Montreal was third place in the East Division at 7-6-1, and Calgary was third in the West with a 9-7-0 record.

The Alouettes were coached by former Als great Sam Etcheverry.

Als quarterback Sonny Wade demonstrated the condition of the turf when he hurled a huge chunk of grass out of his way to take a snap. The field condition was described as "disgraceful".

Sonny Wade won the first of his 3 Grey Cup Most Valuable Player awards

George Springate, the Alouettes kicker, was formerly a police officer, and later a Member of the National Assembly of Quebec and a college (John Abbott College Cegep) teacher in criminology.
