The WTA Elite Trophy is a women's tennis tournament on the WTA Tour. The first edition is the 2015 WTA Elite Trophy in November 2015, offering $2.15 million in prize money. It replaces the smaller WTA Tournament of Champions which was played 2009–14. Zhuhai, China, will host the WTA Elite Trophy for the first five years until 2019.
Format
The singles championship will feature 12 players (11 ranked between nine and 19 and one wildcard). The players will be split into four groups of three, with the group winners advancing to the single elimination semifinals. The doubles championships will feature six teams in two groups with the group winners contesting the final.[2]
