The 2016 season is Hammarby Fotboll's 101th in existence, their 47th season in Allsvenskan and their 2nd consecutive season in the league. They will compete in Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen during the year. League play will start in early April and last until early November. Nanne Bergstrand will make his third season as manager.

Hammarby finished 11th in the 2015 Allsvenskan, then returning to the top flight after 5 seasons in Superettan.
