The 2016–17 KNVB Cup will be the 99th season of the Dutch national football knockout tournament. The winner qualifies for the group stage of the Europa League the following season and the Johan Cruijff Shield, the Dutch Supercup match between the Cup winner and the champions of the Eredivisie.
Qualification
From this season, the KNVB will raise the amateur teams that participate in the Cup from 50 to 68, to keep up with the raising level of play of the amateurs. Therefore, the qualification format needed to be adjusted, and will be as follows: (reserve teams are excluded)
