2015 Camellia Bowl
The 2015 Camellia Bowl was a post-season American college football bowl game played on December 19, 2015 at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama. The second edition of the Camellia Bowl featured the Ohio Bobcats from the Mid-American Conference against the Appalachian State Mountaineers of the Sun Belt Conference. This was the first ever meeting between the two teams. It began at 4:30 p.m. CST and aired on ESPN. It was one of the 2015–16 bowl games that concludes the 2015 FBS football season. Sponsored by television broadcasting company Raycom Media, it was officially known as the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl.[4]
Teams
The game featured the Ohio Bobcats against the Appalachian State Mountaineers. It was the first overall meeting between the two schools.[5]
Appalachian State Mountaineers
Sources told ESPN reporter Brett McMurphy that the Mountaineers had officially been invited to the game and accepted.[6]
This was the first FBS bowl game in school history for Appalachian State, in their second season as a member of the Football Bowl Subdivision and the Sun Belt Conference and their first season of bowl eligibility.
Ohio Bobcats
This was the sixth bowl appearance in the last seven seasons for head coach Frank Solich and the Ohio Bobcats. Solich entered with a 4–7 career record in bowl games as a head coach at both Ohio and Nebraska.
