It was their third consecutive season in North West Counties Football League First Division since the club re-entered the league in 2011. The season covers the period from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2014.

Nelson finished as champions, securing promotion to the North West Counties Football League Premier Division. It was the first time Nelson had been champions in 62 years, the last being the Lancashire Combination under the leadership of legendary manager Joe Fagan.[2] Nelson's win in the last game of the season against Rochdale Town secured a club record of 14 consecutive league wins.[2] They also reached the first round of the FA Vase and the quarter finals of the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy.
