Mexico
- Maná from Guadalajara win a Grammy with their album Drama y Luz which features Mexican, Billboard Latin, Latin Pop Airplay and Tropical Charts #1 hit El Verdadero Amor Perdona. In addition, they publish a "Best of" Exiliados en la Bahía: Lo Mejor de Maná.
- Cristian Castro's Mi Amigo El Príncipe becomes Billboard Latin Pop #1.
- Lila Downs wins both the Grammy Award for Best Regional Mexican or Tejano Album and the Latin Grammy Award for Best Folk Album with Pecados y Milagros.
Puerto Rico
- Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Don Omar wins two Latin Grammies for the single Hasta Que Salga el Sol and album Don Omar Presents MTO²: New Generation which also features his big hit Dutty Love.
- Wisin & Yandel have a major hit with Algo Me Gusta de Ti featuring Chris Brown & T-Pain which tops the Billboard Latin Songs charts for 14 weeks
Guatemala
- Guatemalan crooner Ricardo Arjona has a #1 Latin Pop album with Independiente. It has three successful singles in El Amor, Fuiste Tú (featuring Gaby Moreno) and Te Quiero.
Colombia
- Juanes releases Juanes MTV Unplugged which reaches the Latin Billboard Top Position and gets him his second regular Grammy one year later, in 2013.
Brazil
- Michel Telo's cover version of Cangaia de Jegue's Ai Se Eu Te Pego is a smash hit in Europe and becomes a millionseller. Humilde Residência is also a #1 in Brazil but not abroad.
- Balada (Tchê Tcherere Tchê Tchê) by Sertanejo artist Gusttavo Lima from his album Gusttavo Lima e você tops the charts in the Netherlands (13 weeks at number one in the Dutch Top 40, a new record) and in Flanders, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland and Switzerland, it reaches the Top10 in almost every country of the European mainland.
- Youngster Luan Santana has several hits in his home country but not in Europe.
- Paula Fernandes has a #1 album with Ao Vivo in Portugal.[1] Domestically it even wins Diamond status twice selling over 1,500,000 copies.
- Veteran Caetano Veloso receives the honor Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year.
Spain
- Alejandro Sanz reaches #1 on the Top Latin Albums with La Música No Se Toca and wins the Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
Latin Grammy Awards of 2012
- Mexican siblings Jesse & Joy win best single and best record with ¡Corre!. Their ¿Con Quién Se Queda El Perro? wins best contemporary album.
- Puerto Rican reggaeton star Don Omar wins with Hasta Que Salga el Sol and Don Omar Presents MTO²: New Generation.
- Veterans Nicaraguan Luis Enrique and Dominican Milly Quezada are also decorated.
