The 2012 West Coast Fever season is the fifth year that the West Coast Fever are contesting the ANZ Championship. After the official preseason tournament in early March, the Fever started their 2012 campaign on 30 March against the Canterbury Tactix in Perth. Home games will be played at Perth's Challenge Stadium.

Former Australian national coach Norma Plummer makes her ANZ Championship debut as head coach for the West Coast Fever in 2012. She is joined by former Fever player Stacey Rosman, who has assumed the role of assistant coach. The team's roster has been bolstered by the arrival of several international players, including captain Catherine Cox, English defender Eboni Beckford-Chambers, and three Australian fastnet players. Cox captains the revamped Fever side, with Caitlin Bassett and Susan Fuhrmann as vice-captains.

Offseason

In its first few years of the ANZ Championship, the Fever have fielded a largely inexperienced lineup, and have struggled to place in the top half of the competition, finishing ninth in 2011. Jane Searle was replaced as head coach by Australian national coach Norma Plummer, who stepped down from the national position after the 2011 World Netball Championships in Singapore.[1] Former Fever player Stacey Rosman accepted the role of assistant coach.[2]

With a new coaching lineup, the Fever recruited several international players for their 2012 season. The team's roster was finalised by 1 November 2011, with seven changes to the 2011 roster. New signings included veteran Australian shooter Catherine Cox;[3] Australian fastnet players Ashleigh Brazill, Chanel Gomes and Verity Simmons;[4] and senior English defender Eboni Beckford-Chambers.[5] Cox will captain the new, more experienced Fever lineup in 2012; fellow Australian players Caitlin Bassett and Susan Fuhrmann have been appointed as vice-captains.[6]
