The 2009 season is the 55th season of Pakistan domestic football and the 6th season of the Pakistan Premier League, and starts in July, 2009 under the auspices of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).

KRL F.C. finished the season as champions, becoming the first team outside of Pakistan Army and WAPDA F.C. to win the PPL. It was also their first ever title as Pakistani champions and took Rs600,000 as prize money. Pakistan Army took Rs400,000 for second place and WAPDA received Rs300,000 for finish third. Best goalkeeper award went to Ghulam Nabi of KRL F.C. and was given Rs50,000. WAPDA striker Arif Mehmood ended the season as top scorer with 20 goals to his name and was given Rs50,000 while the Best Player of the season Nassrullah Khan of PIA F.C. took home Rs100,000. Fair Play trophy was given to Afghan Football Club Chaman along with Rs100,000. The best match commissioner award went to Qamar Yar Khan and took with Rs50,000. The best Referee award went to Abdul Sattar Badini and was given Rs50,000, while the best assistant referee award went to Shahid wjho also received Rs50,000.

Format

Teams play each other on a home and away basis

The winners will represent Pakistan at the 2010 AFC President's Cup. The bottom two teams were expected to have been relegated to the Pakistan Football Federation League, but the league was expanded at the end of the season and the bottom two teams survived relegation. Two teams will be promoted to the PPL.
