The 2000-01 Miami Heat season is the 13th season of the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association (NBA).[1] Before the start of the season, Alonzo Mourning suffered a kidney disorder and only played in the final thirteen games of the season. The Heat acquired Eddie Jones and Anthony Mason from the Charlotte Hornets, and acquired Brian Grant from the Portland Trail Blazers in a three team trade during the offseason. Mason was selected for the 2001 NBA All-Star Game in his only year with the Heat as they finished second in the Atlantic Division with a 50–32 record. In the first round of the playoffs, they were swept by the sixth-seeded Hornets in three straight games.
