The 1st Military Police Brigade is a formation created under Force Troops Command that has control over close support military police units within the British Army. The brigade will be dispersed throughout the British Army at sub-unit level, although it will remain under the operational command of the Chief of the General Staff in order to keep and preserve investigative independence.[1]
History
The brigade was formed under the Army 2020 reorganisation and became operational on 1 December 2014.[2]
Structure
The brigade consists of the following units:
- 1st Military Police Brigade in Andover
- 1st Regiment Royal Military Police in Catterick
- 3rd Regiment Royal Military Police in Bulford
- 4th Regiment Royal Military Police in Aldershot
- Special Investigation Branch Regiment Royal Military Police in Bulford
- Special Operations Unit Royal Military Police in Longmoor (Army Reserve)
- Military Corrective Training Centre in Colchester
