The 1999–2000 season was the 11th season of the Orlando Magic in the National Basketball Association (NBA).[1] Coach Chuck Daly was replaced by Doc Rivers prior to the season. During the offseason, Anfernee Hardaway was traded to the Phoenix Suns, Nick Anderson was dealt to the Sacramento Kings, while Horace Grant to the Seattle Supersonics for rookie Corey Maggette, and finally before the start of the season, Isaac Austin was traded to the Washington Wizards for Ben Wallace. The Magic missed the playoffs with a 41-41 record, finishing ninth in the Eastern Conference. Darrell Armstrong led them in scoring with 16.2 points per game. Despite missing the playoffs, Rivers was named Coach of the Year. Following the season, Wallace and Chucky Atkins were traded to the Detroit Pistons for Grant Hill.
