The 1997 Vavunathivu Offensive^[1] was a military operation in which the Tamil Tigers captured Vavunathivu Army camp from the Sri Lankan Army. The Tamil Tigers are believed to have captured large amounts of weapons & ammunitions^[2] in this operation.
