The 1997 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was played from May to September 1997. Kerry, the most successful team in Gaelic football history, ended an eleven-year dry spell, the longest in their history with a three-point victory over Mayo. This year also marked Cavan's first Ulster title in a number of decades.
