The 1991–92 NBA season was the Pistons' 44th season in the NBA and 35th season in the city of Detroit.[1] The Pistons finished third in the Central Division with a 48-34 record. As the “Bad Boys” era was fading, they were eliminated in five games in the first round of the playoffs by the New York Knicks.[2] The Pistons would not return to the playoffs until 1996. Following the season, Chuck Daly left to coach the New Jersey Nets.
