Each championship featured a singles, doubles, and team championship.

The men's tournaments were played in Athens, Georgia, hosted by the University of Georgia, while the women's tournaments were held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, hosted by the University of New Mexico.[1] [2] The men's and women's tournaments would not be held at the same site until 2006.
