The 1978 Great Taste Discoverers season was the 4th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
Transactions
- The GTD management have recruited three rookies; Alfonso Jovero, Carlito Travino and Leonardo Aranzaso.
- Acquired Danny Basilan from U-Tex and Bienvenido Alenton from RTO.
Summary
Great Taste were tied in third place with U-Tex with a 4-3 won-loss card in the first round of eliminations of the All-Filipino Conference, the Discoverers lost all their games in the second round and fell to seventh place overall. [1]
The two imports tapped to play for Great Taste in the second conference were Cisco Oliver and James Collins, the Discoverers lost 13 of their 14-game assignments, before the conference ended, coach Nilo Verona resigns and team manager Chino Marquinez takes over. [2]
