The Philippines hosted an international basketball tournament in 1962 after it was supposed to host 4th edition of the FIBA World Championship.
The government of then President Diosdado Macapagal, refusal to grant visas to players and officials of socialists countries including Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union resulted to FIBA cancelling the tournament.[1] The FIBA World Championship was held the next year, in 1963.
A seven nation tournament took place instead. Among the teams which was participated are the United States, Canada, and Republic of China. The United States won the title.[2]
