1934 International Lawn Tennis Challenge

The 1934 International Lawn Tennis Challenge was the 29th edition of what is now known as the Davis Cup. 23 teams would enter the Europe Zone, 10 beginning in the main draw and 13 beginning in the Qualifying Rounds; while only 5 would enter the Americas Zone, 3 in North America and 2 in South America. Estonia entered the tournament for the first time.

The United States walked over Brazil in the Americas Zone, after Brazil received a walkover in the only South American tie. The USA defeated Australia in the Inter-Zonal play-off, but would fall to Great Britain in the Challenge Round. The final was played at Centre Court in Wimbledon, London, England on 28-31 July.[1][2][3]

Notes

  1. The draw for 1935 turned out to be undersubscribed, and the qualifying system scrapped. Had enough teams entered, these four would have been in the main draw along with semifinalists from the 1934 main draw.
