• At Avebury by Harold St George Gray.
• First excavations at Samaria begin by a Harvard expedition.
• Sakçagözü excavated by John Garstang.
• Ulugh Beg Observatory is discovered in Samarkand by Russian archaeologist V. L. Vyatkin, which had been partly destroyed in 1449.
