27 April – Hildegard Björck becomes the first Swedish woman to complete an academic degree.
- In accordance with the recommendations of the progressive Girl School Committee of 1866, girl schools who meets the demands are given governmental support.^[1]
- In accordance with the Girl School Committee of 1866, Wallinska skolan becomes the first girl school permitted to issue first professional degrees to females.^[2]
- Married women granted control over their own income.^[3]
