10–0 is the nickname for the game played between Beşiktaş JK and Adana Demirspor on October 15, 1989. Beşiktaş won the game 10-0, setting a new record margin of victory for a match in the Turkish First League.[2]
Background
Beşiktaş had a bad start to the 1989–90 Turkish First League season, losing twice and drawing once in their first five games. Manager Gordon Milne decided to only field Turkish players in the next game,[3] a decision which was widely criticised at the time. The game was played on a chilly but sunny day in Ali Sami Yen Stadium. The first goal came early, in the second minute, when Ali Gültiken scored a header. Beşiktaş scored ten goals in the match, with Gültiken scoring four of the goals, and Feyyaz Uçar and Metin Tekin each scoring a hat-trick. After the game, Beşiktaş' form improved and the team went on to become the league champions at the end of the season.
