Škoda Kodiaq

The Škoda Kodiaq is a SUV prototype of the Czech automaker Škoda Auto.[1] Vehicle will be based on a general platform of the VW Group's MQB, shared also with a new generation of Volkswagen Tiguan, however will be longer than Tiguan and seven-seat. Front grille resembles the Škoda Superb III. The estimated cost will start from 24,000 euros. Kodiaq will have the ambition to compete with premium rivals; Audi Q5 and BMW X3, so we can expect a richer standard equipment than it is usual for Škoda. It will, for example, include head-up display and digital instrument panel.[2] The concept Vision S will appear in March at the Geneva Motor Show.[3] The final SUV will be introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October 2016.[4]

Kodiaq should mainly focus on Asian countries, especially on China. It is expected, that the European markets will dominate Škoda Yeti and Asian Škoda Kodiaq. For these reasons it is speculated, where will be produced. On consideration comes, except for Kvasiny, also assembly in Bratislava or in Russia. Earlier was assumed that the new product will be called "Snowman" or "Polar", this has been previously rejected by the former head of Škoda (Vahland) as a media speculation. At 23 December 2015, Škoda registered the name "Kodiaq".[5]
