Zig and Sharko is a French animated series of 156 episodes of 7 minutes directed by animation studios Xilam Animation, known for their animated series A Kind of Magic, Ratz, Space Goofs and Oggy and the Cockroaches. The series was broadcast from December 21, 2010 on Canal+, and is available in the United States of America on Netflix and on ToonsTV internationally.
Characters of Zig and Sharko
- Zig, a hungry hyena living in a lone volcano island who tries to eat Marina.
- Marina, a mermaid who has a house in the bottom of the sea but sits on a small rock during the day.
- Sharko, a shark who protects Marina from Zig and Neptune.
- Bernie, a hermit crab who helps Zig. On Nickelodeon India, he is called Circuit.
- King Neptune, king of the sea. Neptune tries to charm Marina. He is known as Mutton Ki Dukan on Nickelodeon India. He frequently comes into conflict with Zig, Bernie and Sharko.
- Narrator, Appears only in Hindi version. The Narrator adds jokes to the scene, in an attempt to make the show more approachable for Indian audiences.
- Crazy Dolphin, a foolish dolphin who appears in two episodes - "Waterski Hit" and "The Return of the Crazy Dolphin". In the end of both episodes, he blows the island up with mines, but the explosion doesn't kill Zig, Sharko, Marina or himself.
- Survivor, a caveman who appears in the episode "A Lovesick Survivor." He had a crush on Marina, but he also had a fear of Sharko and he was a rival of Zig. He also had cameo appearances in the episodes "At Your Service" and "The Tiny Tyrant".
- Fisherman, a man who wants to have Marina join his show and is the enemy of Sharko. He appeared in the episode "Liberate Marina".
- The Manic Mermaid, a mermaid who wants to play with Sharko. The color of her tail is the same as King Neptune's. She is the enemy of Marina.
- Sharko's Rival, a manta ray who kisses Marina in the episode "The Challengers". He is the enemy of Sharko.
- Adult Seal, the assistant of the fisherman in the episode "Liberate Marina". He is the enemy of Sharko.
- The Coach, a jaguar who teaches Zig to do the things that a jaguar does.
- Jellyfish, a creature who stole the eyes of Zig.
