Zheng was given a wildcard to the 2012 Guangzhou International Women's Open, where she defeated Julia Cohen in the first round. She fell to Mathilde Johansson in the second round.
2014
After a slow start to the year, Saisai began posting better results during the clay season. She qualified for main draw at the 2014 Family Circle Cup (losing to Yaroslava Shvedova in the first round) and then went on to win the Anning $50,000 ITF Tour event. In August, her improved play continued as she qualified for the U.S. Open Tennis Championships main draw for the first time, defeating Stefanie Vögele in the first round and eventually losing to 17-Seed Lucie Šafářová in the 2nd round.
