Zhang Chiming (Chinese: 张池明, born on January 7, 1989) is a Chinese football player who currently plays for Chongqing Lifan.

Club career

Zhang Chiming gained his formal football training at the Chengdu Football Association where he was considered good enough to join French side FC Metz on a training camp on May 14, 2004.[1] On September 29, 2004 after the French training camp had ended Zhang was recommended to train with English football club Everton F.C. by one of their senior players Li Tie.[2] On January 3, 2005 another English club in Sheffield United F.C. became interested in Zhang and officially signed him to their youth team.[3] He would however struggle to receive any playing time because he wasn't granted a British work permit, however on December 11, 2005, Kevin McCabe and Sheffield United officially took over Chinese club Chengdu Blades and Zhang was incorperated into the Chinese team.[4] At Chengdu Blades, Zhang would play for their youth team and even had his name included in the senior team squad.[5] Portuguese club FC Porto became interested in the young player who they eventually signed on a two year contract on August 17, 2007 after a drawn out transfer that required international clearence.[6]

Zhang was unable to graduate into the senior team at FC Porto and was free to leave the club once his contract expired. He would have a trail with German team FC Augsburg on August 23, 2008.[7] This was followed by another trail with Austrian side LASK Linz on Januart 9, 2009 that also failed to give him a contract.[8] Zhang would eventually find a club with third tier Austrian side SV Horn who he joined on February 20, 2009.[9] He would go on to make his debut in a league game against SV Mattersburg II on March 27, 2009 where he came on as a 84th minute substitute in a 0-0 draw.[10] In his debut season he would play in nine games as the club finished second within their division, however the following season he only made four appearances and was allowed to leave the club.[11]

Zhang returned to China and joined China League One side Chongqing Lifan on 22 February 2011.[12] He would make his official debut for the club in a league game against Beijing Baxy on March 27, 2011 in a 1-1 draw where he came on as 53rd minute substitute. This was followed by his first goal for the club against the same opposition, Beijing Baxy on May 4, 2011 this time in a Chinese FA Cup match that ended in a 3-0 victory.[13]

International career

Zhang made his debut for Chinese national team on 27 March 2015 in a 2–2 draw against Haiti.[14]
