Career
2012–present: Kicker and Zella Day
Day released her first single "Seven Nation Army" on June 14, 2012, under WAX LTD.[2] She was featured in Sultan & Ned Shepard's single "All These Roads" along with Sam Martin.[3] A music video was released a few weeks later on October 22, 2013.[4] The video has accumulated over 400,000 views. On March 21, 2014, Day released an audio for a song of hers called "1965".[5] The song was later packed digitally, making up her debut single, "1965/Sweet Ophelia". The single was released in April, 2014.[6] That same month, Day released her debut extended play "Zella Day" on vinyl.[7] A video for "Sweet Ophelia" was released a few months later on October 24, 2014.[8] That same day, she released the EP, "Zella Day", onto digital outlets. The EP features its lead single "Sweet Ophelia", along with the songs "Hypnotic", "East of Eden", and "Compass", although "1965" was left out for unknown reasons.[9] The EP received critical acclaim, Addy Stupin from The Harborlight said the EP was "incredibly satisfying and impressive."[10] The extended play also peaked at #16 on Billbaord's heatseekers chart.[11] One of the songs from the EP, "Hypnotic", served as one of iTunes' "Singles of the Week" where it was available for free download. "Hypnotic" was later released as the EP's second single. A music video was released onto VEVO on February 27, 2015, and has since accumulated over 700,000 views.[12] In early 2015, Day announced that her debut album was titled "Kicker" and would be released on June 2, ofthat same year, under Hollywood Records. Day's song "Sacrifice" appeared on The Divergent Series: Insurgent – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
