Zeek is a mobile application that helps consumers sell their unwanted gift vouchers and store credits to other consumers who are interested in them, at a discount. The platform has the potential of salvaging over $100B per year, which represents 30% of gift vouchers and store credits that are forgotten or misplaced, and eventually expire. As of June 2014, the application is available in Hebrew to Israeli consumers.

Overview

The Zeek marketplace is open to both buyers and sellers, and offers a secure platform for voucher transactions. Sellers scan their vouchers, determine the asking prices, and put them up for sale on the marketplace. Buyers search for vouchers by brand name and purchase them for an attractive rate. In addition, Zeek helps buyers and sellers keep track of their vouchers with its eWallet feature.
The application, supported by Android and iPhone, utilizes a unique API that converts all types of physical gift vouchers into digital versions, which instantly also become valid in the relevant stores. Zeek is powered by a set of advanced technologies, such as Node.js, AngularJS and Couchbase, which enhance its security and privacy.

Awards

On May 20th, 2014, Zeek entered the Tel Aviv Innovation Day Contest at Tel Aviv University, competing against 40 other start-ups. Zeek was awarded third place in the contest, just after Udobu (1st place) and WhoDoYou (2nd place).

History

Zeek was established in 2013 by Daniel Zelkind, Itay Erel, Ziv Isaiah and Uri Levine, co-founder of Waze.
