Shaikh al-Hadith wa al-Tafseer Hadhrat Moulana Mufti Muhammad Zar Wali Khan is a Deobandi Islamic scholar from Pakistan.[1] He is the founder of the Jamia Arabia Ahsan-ul-Uloom seminary located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, Pakistan. He is an expert in the fields of Islamic Jurisprudence (fiqh), hadith, tafsir[2] and tasawwuf. His seminary is notable for being one of the first Deobandi institutions to offer the takhassus (PhD equivalent degree leading to mufti status) degree program to women..

Work

Shaikh al-Hadith wa al-Tafseer Mawlana Shaykh Mufti Zar Wali Khan laid the foundation of an Islamic institution in 1398 Hijra (Jamiah Arabia Ahsan-Ul-Uloom). The objectives and aims of that Jamiah is to formulate intellectual and endowed scholars who can guide the Muslim Ummah on the precise pathway.

Jamiah Arabia Ahsan-Ul-Uloom provides complete Islamic education that includes tafsir, hadith, fiqh, mantiq, Arabic literature and more free of expenditure. Other than Knowledge of Islam, Hifz and Nazrah Quran, Darjah-e-I'dadiyah i.e. (equivalent to eighth grade books including books with beginners Arabic, Persian and other Islamic books) are also taught.

In his jamiah there is an exceptional layout of Darjaat-at-Takhasusat, i.e. (Ph.D. Jamiah Arabia Ahsan-Ul-Uloom also has a Dar-Ul-Iftah in which queries related to day-to-day problems are resolved in the illumination of Islam with broad research and investigation under the management of Shaikh-Ul-Hadith-Wa-Tafseer Moulana Mufti Zar Wali Khan sahib. During usual vacations, outstanding planning for Daura-e-Tafseer-Ul-Quran is organized in which men and women (with pardah) from all line of work attend regularly.[3]

Personal life

Born in 1955, Mufti Zar Wali Khan obtained his primary Islamic education in his hometown of khankhel Jehangira Swabi from Shaykh `Abd al-Hannan (student of Shaykh Husain Ahmad Madani) and Shaykh Lutf Allah (student of Shaykh Anwar Shah Kashmiri) and later continued his education at Jamia al-Uloom al Islamia, Banori Town, Karachi, Pakistan, graduating under the tutelage of the likes of Shaykh Yusuf al-Bannuri, Shaykh Wali Hasan al-Tonki and Shaykh Ahmad al-Rahman al-Kimalpuri. A few years after graduation, he established what is now known as Jamiah Arabia Ahsan-Ul-Uloom. He is one of the living saints and Islamic scholars of Hanafi Deobandi school and famous for his work and knowledge. He is known as Ustadh al-`Ulama.

Inspiration from Anwar Shah al-Kashmiri

Mufti Zar Wali Khan is in the students' tree of Imam al-Asr Allamah Anwar Shah Kashmiri and highly inspired by his expertise in Islamic education. He is so much inspired by him that he named his own son after him.[4]
