Zapiekanka
Zapiekanka (derived from zapiekać – "to scorch", "to roast") is a Polish halved baguette or bread grilled with mushroom and cheese, sometimes also with ham or other types of meat, or vegetables. Ketchup is a typical condiment. The zapiekanka is a common Polish street food that is believed to have been invented in the 1970s Communist Poland.[1] Other, local variants also exist. Its popularity decreased in the 2000s but has recently become popular again thanks to Poland's hipster culture.
