Zannetos Mytidis (Greek: Ζαννέτος Μυτίδης; better known as 'Zanos" born March 20, 1992) is a Cypriot footballer who currently plays as a goalkeeper for Alki Larnaca on loan from AEK Larnaca. He is considered the next big thing for Cyprus in the goalkeeper position.

Career

His potential was quickly identified when he was in the AEK Academies and during the 2007–08 season, he was invited for a trial by championship side Nottingham Forest and eventually signed a two year scholarship as well as a one year professional contract. He was a key member of the 2009–10 side that reached the England Academy final for the first time in 10 years. He saved no fewer than three leicester City penalties in the semi final helping his team reach the final that was played at the Emirates stadium against Arsenal. During the 2010–11 season he was promoted in the Nottingham Forest first team as third choice and was handed the number 67 shirt. On February 2011 he signed a three and a half year deal with his old club Aek Larnaca and was handed the number 40 shirt. In August 2013, he was given on loan to Alki Larnaca for one year after extending his contract with Aek until the summer of 2015. Due to a serious knee injury his loan spell was cut short after playing just two games in which he had a very good performance against Apollon Limassol and AEK Kouklion away. [1]

International career

Mytides has been a part of all international age groups since 2007 which include the u15, the u17 and u19 where he was captain as well as the u21 where he was named man of the match in an away game at Belgium in March 25, 2013 in front of 6000 fans as well as in the home win against a strong Serbia team which included three players who were regular members of the senior Serbia national team in October 2013 as well as a notable performance in the 0-2 home loss against Italy. Certain to win a call up in the first national team and also getting regular games in Alki his hopes were cut short after tearing his cruciate ligament and missing the rest of the 2013–14 season.
