Zameen.com (or Zameen Urdu: زمین) is the leading online real estate database that connects real estate dealers, developers, estate agencies with general buyers, sellers and renters in Pakistan.[1] The site lists properties for sale and rent and has an active blog, news section and a forum. The company is headquartered in Lahore, Pakistan and has offices in Karachi and Lahore and operates all over Pakistan.
In May 2014, Zameen.com struck an investment deal with Frontier Digital Ventures and Catcha Group after which Shaun Di Gregorio and Patrick Grove, CEO of Frontier DV and Catcha Group respectively, joined Zameen.com's Board of Directors.[2][3][4][5][6]
History
Zameen.com was founded in 2006 by two Pakistani entrepreneur brothers, Zeeshan and Imran Ali Khan. In 2012, Gilles Blanchard, co-founder SeLoger.com (a French property portal), took up the role of Chairman at Zameen.com.[7]
The company gave its website a complete makeover in March 2014.[8] It's the fourth time the site has been completely revamped.
Business Model
Initially Zameen.com was a free for all website but in 2010, it shifted to paid model.[9] Today the company generates its income by selling advertising space on its website.
Zameen.com Magazine
In April 2014, Zameen.com rolled out a property magazine.[10]
Maps Section
In March 2014, Zameen.com launched out Maps Section.[11]
Mobile Website
In March 2013, Zameen.com launched a mobile version of its website.[12]
Urdu Website
In February 2013, the site rolled out its Urdu version.[13]
Mobile Apps
Zameen.com rolled out its iPhone app on 27 August 2014.[14][15][16] This release was quickly followed by their Android app. Later in November, the company rolled out a major update for both of its mobile apps.[17]
Awards and Honours
- Kashif Moten, a local journalist, declared in an article that Zameen.com was ‘Pakistan's first property portal.’[18]
- The Express Tribune, an English-language newspaper in Pakistan dubbed Zameen.com ’Pakistan's largest real estate portal.’[19]
- The News, a leading English-language newspaper in Pakistan, stated that Zameen.com has ‘revolutionized the online real estate industry in Pakistan.’[20]
- Simon Baker, an entrepreneur and the top authority on real estate portals, recognized Zameen.com as 'The Pakistan Leader' in his blog post.[21]
- In 2007, Zameen.com won the Best Property Award 2007 at the CNBC International Property Awards.[22]
- Zameen.com won the Best Property Portal in the World Award at the CNBC International Property Awards 2008.[23]
- During the same year, it won the Best Property Portal Award Pakistan in 2008.
