Culinary career

Yvan David Lemoine (born 1981/1982)[2][1] is a Venezuelan-born chef based in New York City. He was a finalist on the eighth season of the Food Network series Food Network Star.

Career

From 2009 to 2010, Lemoine hosted a cooking segment on Univision called El Toque de Lemoine.[1] He also appeared on the Food Network series Chopped in 2009,[4] finishing in second place. Lemoine released a Spanish-language cookbook, Comidas U.S.A., in September 2012.[5]

Yvan now works as the chef de cuisine at Bodega Negra restaurant for the Tao Group

Food Network Star

In May 2012, Lemoine became a contestant on the eighth season of another Food Network series, Food Network Star; he was mentored by Giada de Laurentiis. He eventually became one of the final four contestants, and he filmed a pilot for a potential series called Family Style.[6] He eventually lost the competition to Justin Warner.[7]

Personal life

Lemoine is the oldest of four siblings.[8] He was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and he lived in Venezuela until he was 13 years old.[2] Lemoine was initially interested in acting as well as cooking during his high school years but he eventually shifted his focus to cooking exclusively.[9] He has had no formal culinary training; he received a scholarship to the Culinary Institute of America but he was unable to accept it due to not having immigration papers.[8]

Lemoine and his brother co-own food studio iFood Studios.[3][9] He also currently works with the Tao restaurant group in the greater New York City area and at the Surf Lodge in The Hamptons,[9] as well as being a cook for the modern-day French Consulate.[2] At Surf Lodge, Lemoine considers himself a “mixologist” rather than a bartender.[9]
