Yenovk Nazarian

Yenovk Nazarian (Born Istanbul, Ottoman Empire 1877 - died Gyumri, Armenia 1928) was a famed Armenian painter.[1]

Life

Yenovk Nazarian was born in Istanbul, where he began his education. He subsequently studied art in Italy, and after returning to Turkey worked as both painter and teacher. His work at this period includes a painting depicting actor Petros Adamian in his coffin in 1891, and a series of Bosphorus landscapes.[1] He eventually visited Tblisi and Armenian where lived and painted. He eventually died in Gyumri, Armenia at the age of 51.

There are 15 of his portraits in pastels. Two works by the artist are at the National Gallery of Armenia.[1]
