Xoxocotla is a municipality located in the south zone in the State of Morelos, about 30 km from state capital Cuernavaca. It has a surface of 63.34 km2. It is located at 18°39′N 97°09′W / 18.650°N 97.150°W. The name comes from the language Náhuatl, Xoxo-oco-tlan; that means “Place where there are green pines".

Geography

The municipality of Xoxocotla is bordered to the north by Soledad de Doblado, to the east by Tlaquilpa and to the south by Puebla State.[1]

Agriculture

It produces principally maize and faba bean.

Celebrations

Every May, a festival is held to celebrate Virgen de Juquila, patron of the town and in December there is a festival held in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Weather

The weather in Xoxocotla is very cold and wet all year with rains in summer and autumn.
