Xander Houtkoop (born 26 March 1989) is a Dutch professional footballer of half Indonesian descent, who currently plays for ADO Den Haag in the Dutch Eredivisie. He formerly played for FC Emmen, Heracles Almelo and Go Ahead Eagles. Houtkoop is known for his speed, creativity, close-control and flair.

Playing Career

SC Heerenveen

Houtkoop began his career at Heerenveen but did not break into the team, failing to register an appearance.

FC Emmen

In the summer of 2009, Houtkoop signed for FC Emmen on a season-long loan. After an impressive campaign, Houtkoop attracted the interest of Eredivisie club Heracles Almelo.

Heracles Almelo

After intense speculation surrounded his future, Houtkoop signed a two-year contract at Heracles Almelo in April 2010 after his contract at Heerenveen had expired. He appeared six times for the club.

Go Ahead Eagles

In July 2011, Houtkoop signed for Go Ahead Eagles on a free transfer.

Personal Life

Houtkoop is widely recognised in the Netherlands as a philanthropist and has campaigned for various charities, including Aftercough Aid.
