XHFM-FM
XHFM-FM was a radio station in Mexico City, broadcasting on 94.1 FM. It was the first FM radio station in Mexico,[1] operating from 1952 to 1957.
History
The concession for XHFM was awarded on December 28, 1948 to Federico Obregón Cruces, and it began test transmissions in 1949.
In 1952, it came on air officially, broadcasting with 3 kW of power and using the name "Radio Joya". The station closed on June 26, 1957, as its facilities were destroyed by an earthquake.
The 94.1 frequency would not be used in Mexico City for more than 50 years, until UAM Radio built six 20-watt transmitters on the frequency.
