XEJ (Channel 5) is a television station in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, owned and operated by Meneses Hoyos family, and is an affiliate of Grupo Televisa's GalaTV network. Founded by Pedro Meneses Hoyos on May 17, 1954, it was the first TV station in Chihuahua state, the first Spanish channel in Juarez, El Paso and Las Cruces, and the 3rd TV station outside of Mexico city.
From XEJ, many talented locals were projected, who became legends of Mexican golden era cinema and music: Tin Tan, Lorenzo de Monteclaro, Charro Avitia, and Alberto Aguilera AKA Adan Luna and/or Juan Gabriel. Mr. Meneses produced in the early days of television, entertaining programs such "El barco de la illusion", "Doctora Corazon", "Noches Rancheras", "La hora del aficcionado", "Papa Quinito", "Niko Liko" (the clown) and others.
Presently, XEJ is still broadcasting from its original studios, at Vicente Guerrero and Constitucion streets. The station broadcasts Mexico city's Galavision signal, from 12 pm to 11 pm and still produces its own newscast (Noticinco). Rafael Fitzmaurice Meneses, Grandson of its founder, Pedro Meneses, is now the station's General Director.

The digital signal was activated in June 1, 2012.[2]
Digital subchannels
XEJ-TDT2 (Branded as TVA Televisión Alternativa) is a second digital subchannel of XEJ-TV launched on June 2, 2012. It broadcasts in High Definition in channel 5.2, the station broadcasts music videos 24-hours a day.

Digital Transition
Due to the Mexican Analog-to-Digital conversion mandate, XEJ-TV was scheduled to shut-down its analog signal by November 26, 2013.[3]
