Wrockwardine Wood Arts Academy is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in Wrockwardine Wood area of Telford in Shropshire, England.[1]
It was previously called 'Wrockwardine Wood Secondary School' until in 2001, when it gained specialist Performing Arts College status and was renamed Wrockwardine Wood Arts College. The school converted to academy status in April 2013, and was renamed Wrockwardine Wood Arts Academy. The is now sponsored by the Telford Co-operative Multi-Academy Trust (TCMAT), and continues to offer the performing arts as a specialism.
The school is scheduled to merge with Sutherland Co-operative Academy at the end of July 2015 to form Telford Co-operative Academy, which will be located at a new site.[2][3]
Awards
It is one of five schools in Telford to be awarded the highest Artsmark award, the Artsmark Gold[4] award from Arts Council,England and is part of Creative Partnerships Government Flagship learning programme.
It also holds the Sportsmark award from The English Sports Council.
Notable former pupils
David Wright (politician), later MP for Telford, attended when it was known as Wrockwardine Wood Comprehensive School.
