Worth is a small village situated near Sandwich, Kent, England. It has two public houses, a church, and a school.

C.S. Forester's fictional naval hero Horatio Hornblower was born in the village of Worth, according to Hornblower's biographer Cyril Northcote Parkinson [see The Life and Times of Horatio Hornblower (1970)], on 4 July 1776. His father was the local physician.

According to Parkinson (pg. 17), the name of the small village varied in the 18th Century from Word or Worde to Worth.

According to Parkinson (pg. 17) a farm called the Blue Pidgeons was central to the smuggling business at that time. There is today a Blue Pidgeon Inn in Worth. The Blue Pigeons recently (1 April 2011) won Channel Four's "Three in a Bed" as the best B&B.

According to Hasted Worth was an unhealthy parish, presumably on account of its marshy environment.
