Notes
- (1) including Soviet Union and CIS
- (2) including East Germany and West Germany
- (3) including Bohemia
- (4) at the 1993 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Valery Belenky earned a bronze medal competing as an unattached (UNA) athlete, since his home country Azerbaijan did not have a gymnastics federation. Nevertheless, the medal Belenky earned is counted for Azerbaijan.
- (5) at the 1964 and 1965 Trampoline World Championships athletes from Great Britain competed under different flags for England, Scotland and Wales. At the 1982 Trampoline World Championships two athletes competed under the Scottish flag, in a team separated from the British team. The medals earned by athletes from England and Scotland have not been merged with the medals won by the British team because the concept of Great Britain existed prior to the athletes competing at the aforementioned World Championships; their decision to represent individual territories, nevertheless, is reflected in this medal table.
