Woodbridge College opened its doors in 1958 as Woodbridge High School, and remained a regular neighborhood high school until 1991, when it became an academy alternative school, changing its name to Woodbridge College, with students in grades 7-OAC. In 2000, Woodbridge College’s alternative school status ended and it returned to being a regular neighborhood school starting at grade 9. The school building has undergone a major transition during the past four years including a renovation and a new addition housing 16 classrooms. The school’s current enrollment is approximately 950 students. In the school year of 2009-2010, Debra Conrad Knight was succeeded by Ann Pace as school principal.
Uniform
Woodbridge College is the only public high school in York Region where students wear uniforms, a policy which originated during its alternative school days. The uniform consists of either a white or navy blue polo shirt and grey pants. Both the pants and the polo shirts are crested with the school's Wyvern mascot. All articles of the uniform must be purchased directly from the school's designated uniform supplier. All students must wear plain black shoes although this policy is rarely enforced.
