Wolstanton High School, previously Wolstanton Grammar School , is a high school in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.[2]

History

The school was founded in 1928, as Wolstanton Grammar School, as a replacement for The Orme Middle School, which closed in 1927. The grammar school was originally designed for 500 male students, from a catchment area that included Staffordshire and neighbouring parts of Cheshire.[3] The school became Wolstanton High School in the 1970s.[4]

In a 2012, Ofsted judged the school as 'satisfactory', falling to 'requires improvement' by 2013.[1] It was noted that the majority of students are of 'White British backgrounds, with a small number from other ethnic groups'. The number of students 'eligible for free school meals is just below the national average'.[5]
