Winkworth plc
Winkworth plc is an international estate agent listed on the AIM London Stock Exchange[1][2][3] handling residential sales, lettings and property management. The company operates from a network of over 90 offices in the United Kingdom, Portugal and Spain, as well as an International team with associates in France, Portugal, Italy and Switzerland. They have 62 offices in London, making it the single largest estate agency brand in Greater London. The latest office openings include Salisbury, Reading and Sway, Hampshire as the agency continues to grow.
In addition to the multiple offices, the company also offers additional services such as a China Desk, Marketing team and Country House department, all of which operate from its head office in Mayfair.
History
Winkworth was founded in 1835 by brothers Henry St John and Edward Henry Thomas Winkworth. The original Head Office was located in Curzon Street, Mayfair—with a country office in Brighton. Originally, the main business involved selling residential property to an exclusive client list and letting houses in Mayfair to the landed gentry for "the season".
In 1981 Winkworth became a franchise estate agency—the first in the UK, under the helm of Simon Agace, who was the company’s main director but now has taken over by his son Dominic Agace in 2014. Winkworth were also the first estate agents to have multiple London offices and has gone on to expand across the UK and overseas. This year, the company is celebrating its 180th Anniversary.
In 2012, the company refreshed its brand with new look interiors and a campaign centred around the company strapline ‘See Things Differently.’ This campaign has included branded black taxis around the capital as well as advertising with bespoke artwork from illustrators such as Noma Bar, Olympia and Shout. The company today is worth a net amount of £45.8 million with a gross income of around £10 million a year.
In 2014, Winkworth has expanded into the Spanish market, specifically the Costa del Sol with a new office in the Marbella Area.
