Pfc. William J. Grabiarz School of Excellence is a public elementary and middle school located in Buffalo, New York. It is located at 225 Lawn Avenue. The current principal is Mr. Gregory Mott, and the current assistant principals are Mr. Michael Ryndak.
History
The original School 79 was located at 155 Lawn Avenue and opened in 1926. It operated for fifty years before being closed in 1976 as part of the school district's desegregation program. The building still stands and houses the Northwest Community Center.[1] The new School 79 opened in 2000 in a property adjacent to the old site and was named for William J. Grabiarz, a local World War II hero.
