Wilhelm von Apell (16 January 1892 – 7 March 1969) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the German Wehrmacht during the Second World War who commanded the 22nd Armoured Division. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Wilhelm von Apell was captured by American troops in 1945 and was released in 1947.
