Wilhelm Albert, Duke of Urach
Prince Wilhelm Albert Raphael Maria of Urach, Count of Württemberg (German: Wilhelm Albert Fürst von Urach, Graf von Württemberg; born on 9 August 1957) is the head of the morganatic Urach branch of the House of Württemberg.
Prince Wilhelm Albert was born at Schloss Hohenburg, Lenggries, Bavaria, Germany the son of Prince Eberhard of Urach and Princess Iniga of Thurn and Taxis. He is a grandson of Wilhelm, Duke of Urach who was from 11 July 1918 to November 1918 the king-elect King Mindaugas II of Lithuania.[1]
Prince Wilhelm Albert succeeded his brother Karl Anselm as Duke of Urach after his brother renounced the title in 1991, due to his morganatic marriage. His marriage with Karen von Brauchitsch (daughter of Konrad von Brauchitsch and wife Mariette Hermans, and adopted by her granduncle Clemens, Count Berghe von Trips), on 1 February 1992 in Rimburg, Germany was morganatic too. They have one son and two daughters:
- Prince Karl Philipp of Urach (b. 6 July 1992)
- Princess Alexandra-Charlotte of Urach (b. 18 February 1994)
- Princess Louisa Antonia of Urach (b. 12 February 1996)
He is described as an engineer who lives at Ossenberg Castle near Düsseldorf.[2] He also owns Lichtenstein Castle, south of Stuttgart, which is open to the public.[3]
